The Greensboro Children’s Museum is a great family day out in the area. This educational museum has more than 20 different permanent exhibits and a half-acre outdoor learning garden. Located at 220 N. Church Street, this children’s museum is perfect for kids of all ages. The museum has a health center, a movie theater, and a Tot Spot for the youngest visitors. It features interactive exhibits including a Transportation Gallery, which features the interiors of real vehicles. The Tot Spot offers hands-on activities for children under two. The Edible Schoolyard is an organic teaching garden and working kitchen, and the museum also has a climbing wall for adults.

 

For younger children, the museum offers an array of hands-on activities, ranging from play dough to dinosaurs. Many exhibits are interactive, allowing children to explore and learn through play. Parents who bring a group of young children will appreciate the opportunity to spend quality time together, learning from one another, and laughing with each other. The museum is a 37,000 square foot facility in downtown Greensboro, NC, and includes over 20 permanent exhibits. Other highlights of the museum include an Edible Schoolyard, cooking school, and outdoor play plaza with two Neptune XXL climbers. The Greensboro Children’s Museum has been a popular destination for families since its opening in 1999. Its current expansion is the first phase of an ambitious new initiative titled “Reaching Greater Heights.” This initiative will add an outdoor classroom and play plaza. The museum’s entrance will be redesigned to accommodate school groups. The Greensboro Children’s Museum also has a newly opened Health Center and a renovated indoor space.

 

The museum will be closed from 12/11 until spring 2021. The museum will continue to offer educational programming and limited virtual events. During this time, the museum will focus on expanding and adding a new outdoor play plaza. Until then, the museum will be closed for renovations. During this time, the Cemala Foundation has contributed an extra $800k to the capital campaign for the Outdoor Play Plaza and a new climbing rope structure. Another great place to visit.
